Hans Ressdorf – Landscape

Hans Ressdorf was born in Mulheim, Germany. His European upbringing and influence gave him a unique perspective of art. The European method of art instruction differs from America. His studies began after he decided a career in Architecture was not suitable for him. Ressdorf’s education included three years with Dalen and Martin, two of Germany’s most illustrious painters.

In 1949, Ressdorf immigrated to the United States. He uses the old way when he teaches. He has received numerous awards, including the University Women of America award in New York City, and the George Phippen Memorial award in Arizona.

Although he has painted numerous subjects, the romanticism of flowers and colorful landscapes has captured his imagination and much of his work embraces that beauty.
